I recently watched Nanny McPhee while visiting with my son's little family in Memphis. I was
blown away by the similarities of how I see God's judgment working in our lives to conform
us to the image of Christ, and the effect Nanny had on those ill behaved children in the
    movie.

Oh those kids... The last nanny that could be found for them comes bursting out the door
screaming, "they've eaten the baby!"  Their strategy worked, they found their Nanny's last
nerve.  Of course, they didn't really eat baby Aggie, they just had her partially covered in a
large bowl of cabbage while they ate a turkey leg with a baby bootee on it.  Anyway, that
    was that nanny's last day.

Poor Dad is off to the "nanny store", one more time only to find that there are no more
nannys left. He was at the end of his rope and his little hellions were about to be at the end
of their's. Nanny McPhee was at the door. And, not a minute too early.....

    There is a path
    before each person that
    seems right,
but it ends in death. Proverbs 16:25 NLT

    Beloved, think it not strange
    concerning the fiery trial
    which is to try you,
    as though some strange thing
happened unto you: 1Peter 4:12 KJV

    For to be carnally minded is death;
    but to be spiritually minded
is life and peace. Romans 8:6 KJV

    ...and be sure your sin
will find you out. Numbers 32:23 b KJV

Nanny McPhee  made her arrival and the kids were a bit concerned. She was sort of like
God in a way, she could make supernatural things happen with that big stick of hers. The
kids were ready for bed but they decided they would have a little fun with Nanny. They all
gave her false names as they introduced themselves. She let them foolishly ramble on
then she went around the room and called each child by name. Humm... More reason to
check this nanny out.  Who is this person that knows each of them by name???

She will show up in your life too...right on time.
Poor little things...they
pretended to have chicken
pocks so they wouldn't have
to get out of bed...you
guessed it, Nanny gave
them chicken pocks for real.
They had to stay in bed all
day and eat some horrible
broth the cook made,
especially for them.
When Nanny McPhee
first came to the
children she was
horribly ugly! There
was nothing at all
attractive about her,
until, she showed
compassion for the
children when they
began learning the
lessons she came to
teach them.

After the long day of
staying in bed with
chicken pocks she had
the servant girl to
make them scrambled
eggs and toast...which
was greatly
appreciated after the
broth and the nasty
medicine she made
them take.

Every lesson that the
children learned
caused Nanny not to
appear so ugly. Even
the moles started to
disappear from her
face. Instead of being a
threat to them she
started being their
security.
"When you need me but don't want me I will be here. When
you want me but don't need me I will have to go."
   ...
Nanny McPhee
Once, Nanny even made the children's
crotchety old aunt think she saw a
donkey all dressed up in her hat just
so one of the children would not have
to go to live with this, not so delightful,
relative.
....and be sure your sin will find
you out
Numbers 32:23 b KJV
Young, Simon, seemed to
get a lot of Nanny's
attention. He was the
meanest of the
children...the instigator of
all their conniving tactics.
Not unlike our Heavenly
Father, Nanny hung with
this young man more than
the others.

Simon ended up having a
special relationship with
Nanny. She encouraged
him all along the way as he
yielded his will to learning
the needed lessons.

All of the children were
transformed into well
mannered, happy, children
that made their father very
proud.
Trust in the LORD with all your
heart and lean not on your own
understanding;
6.in all your ways
acknowledge him, and he will
make your paths straight.
As the apostle Paul talked with the men
at Athens, who were not believers, he
told them that God insists that all men
repent, or come to the end of
themselves, change their thinking and
change their ways.

It is still the same for us today. We all
must come to the end of ourselves, we
will lay down our agenda..sooner or
later. It's just God's plan and it will
happen. God has designed judgment into
the system we live in to help us along as
we become willing to lay down our lives
and accept His guidance.  Even the lake
of fire, when examined closely, indicates
a place or state of purification.

It's just God's plan and we can't do
anything about it. And, aren't we glad???
I'm glad He loves me enough to mix
discipline in with the many blessings He
hands our way.

Proverbs 3

1.My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,
2.for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.
3.Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on
the tablet of your heart.
4.Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.
5.Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6.in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
7.Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.
8.This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
9.Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;
10.then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new
wine.
11.My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline and do not resent his rebuke,
12.because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
13.Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding,
14.for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.
15.She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.
16.Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.
17.Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.
18.She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be
blessed.
19.By wisdom the LORD laid the earth's foundations, by understanding he set the
heavens in place;
Recipe For A Happy Life
As it always will their "sin" found them out.  Now no good nanny would give kids chicken pocks
without providing them a remedy would she?  Well, nanny had a remedy. It was  a big spoonful of
some nasty, slimy, medicine. When it came young Simon's turn to take his medicine, he asked in a
smart Alec tone, "what if I refuse?"  Guess what nanny's answer was?? She said, "then you won't
get well."

Think about it.... we humans are "sick" because, with Adam as our representative, we chose to
disobey God. You know, God didn't freak out when Eve ate that fruit.... it was part of the plan. God
put the tree in the garden and made the tempting serpent. Why? To show man that his way won't
work. That way that seemed right to Adam and Eve brought death. So it is with us nowadays.

Like nanny, God has provided a remedy. In fact, the remedy was provided before we sinned.
Before the foundation of the world the Lamb of God was slain for us all. Ada
m, represented us all.
Christ, the last Adam represented us all. Ya think God would be unfair??

What if, like Simon, we are stubborn and refuse God's remedy? We stay sick!  Simon thought about
it really hard, then "humbled himself and  took the medicine. It is not God's plan for humanity to
stay sick. Even if we refuse at first, we eventually understand that there is no other way, it is in our
best interest to yield to the one in control and take the remedy. When we stay sick long enough the
remedy starts to look inviting doesn't it?

Here's the plan as I see it...

We are the characters in the story of God and humanity..we had nothing to do with it. It's God idea,
God's project.

God, purposely, created us in a situation where we would mess up.

Because God is just, He created the remedy for our "mess up". The remedy is Christ, taking the
punishment for our mess up. But, here's the rub...it take humbling ourself to accept the remedy.
Jesus taught if we want to find our life then we must be willing to lose it. That is called "dying" to
our flesh...the part that do
esn't want the remedy...it sill wants to be boss.

God planned for some to accept this remedy right off and have certain responsibilities/blessings in
this story. He also has a plan for those who stubbornly, hold out, those too prideful to admit they
are faulty and need help. Because the story has to go according to the writer's (God) plan,
everyone, at some time, must accept the remedy. Since accepting the remedy includes "dying to
the flesh", God has provided a way to help the stubborn, lawless, characters "die to their flesh".
This plan is called the second death....what an idea!!!  Die to the flesh willingly or be "persuaded by
some very difficult circumstances that absolutely will not let up until we admit that we are faulty and
need the remedy.

The writer (God) tells us in the Bible that Christ will reign Until everything is in subjection to Him,
who knows how long it will take, but it will happen. It's in the story.

The outcome of the story is not up to us any more than the beginning of the story. It is still God's
project. It is working out like it is supposed to.

Scroll on down to see the story in the scriptures.
When God starts working
with us, He may look and
feel less than beautiful,
but as we see our lives
benefiting from the
lessons He teaches us, He
start to become beautiful
in our eyes.

He does for us what no
one else in the world can.

The Objective Of The Story"
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that
shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when
he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did
put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then
shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that
God may be all in all.

Mark 8:35
"The Humbling"
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for
my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

Revelation 5:13  "
The End"
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and
such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and
honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto
the Lamb for ever and ever.

Ephesians 1:9-11 "
The End"
Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure
which he hath purposed in himself:  That in the dispensation of the fulness of times
he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and
which are on earth; even in him:
